DORC is an innovating global supplier of techniques, instruments and equipment for ophthalmic surgery, headquarters based in the village of Zuidland in the Netherlands.

In close co-creation with the brand manager of DORC we approached the UX of this project in smaller steps. It was a quick iterative process, based on best practices.
There are several ways to find a product, either by clicking through category and product pages, by the product finder (faceted search) and regular search.

The product portfolio of DORC is huge, and required a faceted search to serve them properly. A complexity we had to solve was product groups beyond the level of single products. Which we solved by adding a highlight row above the regular results.

From three main categories, users were served the next step (filter) with clearity. It provided a very solid solution for setting up the various categories, with different depth levels.

After the approval of the first designs, I started building the design system from scratch. Starting with basic color palette and typography, eventually adding all components of the platform. Below are a few excerpts.
As we designed parts some core parts of the website in seperate runs, the brand manager could reuse components to make new pages in the CMS. During this process the brand manager would consult us on some UX gaps that were not covered. Resulting in a fast and lean co-creation process.
